SALE REPORT – FESTIVE FIREWORKS CARLISLE IN-LAMB SALE

SALE DATE – 8TH DECEMBER 2022

The overall sale champion Derg Faye secured the leading price of 5000gns and the pre-sale supreme champion rosette at the Blue Texel Sheep Society in-lamb sale held at Carlisle on Thursday 8th December.  

Faye, offered by Northern Ireland breeders S Allen & A Short, is a daughter of Sunnybank Escobar out of Cleenagh Cornflake. She sold carrying twins to Matts Firetrap purchased by R Millen to join his Knockmult flock.

Another gimmer entry from Derg pen sold at 3800gns. Derg Frankie carrying twins was also served by Matts Firetrap and is sired by Beili Blues Euphoric is a daughter of homebred ewe Derg Dakota. Frankie was purchased by Gareth Lee based in Carmarthenshire.

Selling for the next leading price at 3500gns was Stephick Fantastic exhibited by Stephanie Dick, Stuirling.  Fantastic was also sired by Beili Blues Euphoric and is out of Derg Dior, she now joins the Tonley Flock for Mark Wattie, of Aberdeenshire.

The Derg Flock continues their success with another price featuring in the leading list with Mullaghmeen Fantasy selling for 3300gns to Henry Jewitt, joining his Sunnybank Flock. Fantasy is a daughter of S Allen & A Shortt’s homebred tup Derg Dictator, out of a Glengoyne bred female. She sold served by Matts Firetrap.

The first prize ewe at the presale show sold for 3000gns, Shawtonhill Eye Opener, one of the flocks ewes offered by R & J Hamilton. She was sired by Dragon Dominator and out of a Hackney bred female. She sold running with Caryl’s Blues Cocky Lad and was knocked down to M & A Jones for their Glan-Y-Mor Flock.

Taking 1st prize in the ewe lamb class and the Reserve Champion rosette was an Ivanhoe entry from James Bailey & Joanne Anderson of North Yorkshire, which sold for 2600gns. The flocks show ewe lamb who was one of theie best females is a daughter of Heighington Archie, out of an Ivanhoe female. She now joins the Gallow Hill flock for Gordon Troup.

The Derg flock sold another gimmer for 2400gns, Derg Flame, also sired by Beili Blues Euphoric was out of a Cleenagh female. Flame was sold served by Matts Firetrap and was also purchased by Gareth Lee.

A couple of entries selling for 2200gns price tag were gimmers. The first entry consigned by M Burleigh, from his Matt’s Flock. Matt’s Fairytale is a daughter of Drumard Ed and was served by Beili Blues Euphoric, she went to George Hoggard from Nottinghamshire. The second entry at 2200gns was another from S Allen & A Short. Baileys Fantasy, sired by Beili Blues Euphoric sold to R & J Grahams of Stirling. 

Reaching the 2000gn mark were two entries. One being from David CS Alexander with his Millside entry sired by Beili Blues and joins the Burrows Flock for James Smith.  The second gimmer to go at 2000gns was another entry from Stephanie Dick, Stephick Fancypants, daughter of Sunnybank Escobar was knocked down to KJ Pritchard.

Selling for 1800gns was a gimmer from A Struthers & M Young’s Glenhill Flock. Glenhill Fame, sired by Matt’s Ee By Gum out of Hunters Duchess, she sold served by Solway View Garnett sand goes to  John W Taylor based in Orkney.

Also at 1800gns was another gimmer from David CS Alexander, again sired by Beili Blues out of a homebred ewe. Scanned in lamb to twins, served by Walston Fireball, she was purchased by JA & VA Swift based in Cumbria.

A couple of gimmers selling for 1600gns were Glenhill Flash, daughter of Matt’s Ee By Gum, served by Solway View Garnett was sold to J & M Cuthbert for their Ladystone Flock. The second entry at 1600gns was Corra From Now On consigned by G & H Forsyth from Dumfries & Galloway. From Now On was sired by Derg Darth Vader and was knocked down to Stuart Thomson based near Annan.

At 1500gns was I F Donaldson’s, Ashton Fortune, a gimmer by Dell Cole, served by Top-Bank Flo Rider also ran with Auchmantle Flying Scotsman. She sold to S N Graham from Dumfriesshire. Also selling at 1500gns was another gimmer from David CS Alexander, a daughter of Beili Blues sold served by Walston Fireball to AM & E Hartley for their Pendle Flock.

 

Averages – 17 Ewes £830.74; 83 Shearling Ewes £1067.08; 22 Ewe Lambs £520.70.
