SALE REPORT- NWA J36 NEW YEAR IN-LAMB SALE

A substitute entry from Stasa Moyes’ Saltire Blue Flock proved the star attraction at North West Auctions’ Junction 36 Kendal centre on Saturday, 7 January, when the Blue Texel gimmer brought out by partner, Stuart Wood, not only claimed the Champion at the pre-sale show but also the top price of 3500gns.
That was Saltire Blue Fancy Fire which boasts an impressive pedigree being by Caryl’s Blues Captain and out of the Hackney Your Joking-sired Saltire Blue Bluebell. With the judge, Victoria Bowring, backing her decision to take Fancy Fire home to her Windmill Flock near Nether Langwith, Mansfield, she changed hands scanned with a single to the 5600gns Pistyll Elite.
The duo from near Westhill, Aberdeenshire, welcomed the second highest price of 1200gns when Graeme Sinclair paid that over the phone for Saltire Blue Fee Fi Fo Fum which heads to a new home near Heriot. Another by the Caryl’s Blues Captain ram and scanned in lamb to Pistyll Elite, her dam is another Hackney Your joking daughter in the shape of Saltire Blue Beyonce.
Hitting the 800gns mark when knocked down to D and S Morrison, Greystoke, Penrith, was Rookie Blues Fancy Pants from J and A Gargett, Ainstable, Carlisle. Served by Hunters Freddo, this Stonycroft Excalibur daughter is out of Rookie Blues Dancing Queen, herself by Solway View Bobby.
Elsa McKechnie saw her Burrytown Frisky-whisky from Wigglesworth, Skipton, go under the hammer for 650gns. Full of Turbo Blue breeding and carrying a pair to a Hackney ram, this gimmer originally bred by Mr and Mrs Gregory sold to M and R Smith, Winerburn, Skipton.
Two from Stephen Illingworth’s Glenrock Flock from Eaglesfield, Lockerbie, sold for 600gns each, both of which were carrying twins to Cynllwyn Golden Boy. First and knocked down to GP Udale and Son, Kings Maeburn, Penrith, was Glenrock Fay, a Derg Etotist daughter bred from a Turbo Blue ewe.
The similarly bred Glenrock Fancy, this time out of a different Turbo Blues ewe, sold to DA and MJ Pedley, Waitby, Kirkby Stephen.
Averages: Three aged ewes, £543; 12 shearling ewes, £862; five ewe lambs, £368.
