SALE REPORT – WINTER WARMERS MELTON MOWBRAY IN-LAMB SALE

Taking joint top price at Melton Mowbray’s In-lamb sale on Saturday 26th November was an aged ewe from Robert Mawer & Emma Benge, Premier Flock, Lincolnshire. Premier Emerald sold for 800gns and is sired by Cleenagh Doolally and out of a daughter by Whatmore Wasp. Emerald, an eye-catching ewe, sold served by Beckbred Blues Frisky Whiskey 0650 and purchased by O Brewin based near Leicestershire.

The second entry selling for 800gns was a shearling gimmer consigned by Mrs Heather Timms of the Brandon Flock based near Coventry. Brandon Fhloe, a daughter of Dulas Comet and out of Brandon Chloe, sold running with Turbo Blue 4016. She was knocked down to P Bodily & D McGarry for their Bodhall Flock based near Milton Keynes.

The 1st prize ewe lamb and Overall Champion, Premier Glad Rags, was another entry from Messrs Mawer & Benge and sold for 700gns. This lamb is a daughter of Saltire Blue Extreme and out of a daughter of homebred ewe Premier Cherry. She was successfully sold to George H Hoggard, Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Selling for 650gns was the shearling gimmer Simply Blue Flavia consigned by David Scarborough, Simply Blue Flock. A daughter of Turbo Blue 3526 and out of Bubblegum, she sold running with Morrillams Figaro 0554 and went to M R Peters, Sawtry, Cambridgeshire.

The next price in the listing was 620gns for a shearling gimmer Premier Fame, another entry from Messrs Mawer & Benge. Fame is sired by Saltire Blue Daredevil and out of Cleenagh Yetta, a daughter of C.J’s Will-i-am. Fame sold served by Etterick Flodden 2446 and was knockdown down to JHM & S Bingham, Lincolnshire.

A trio of entries all sold for 580gns. The first at this price was Wind-mill Fine Lady from V & G Bowring, which was sired by Drumard Ed and sold to George H Hoggard. A few lots later was Simply Blue Fiona, as shearling gimmer offered by David Scarborough. This Turbo Blue sired entry sold to M R Peters & Son. The third and final entry to go at 580gns was from Miss Heather McCurdie, Mac, a shearling ewe joins the Twilight Flock for Mr C Vickers.

Averages – 12 Aged Ewes £277.37; 25 Shearling Gimmers £432.18; 18 Ewe Lambs £330.16.
