Blue Texels lead multi breed sale at Worcester with a top of 2000gns

The multi breed of Blue Texel, Badger Face Texels, Beltex and Rouge sheep at Worcester on Friday (6th September) saw a top call of 2000gns for the champion Blue Texel ram lamb.

Sale leader was Brutey’s Blues Jackpot from Paul and Delyth Brute, Brecon, Powys. By Mullygarrow Grey Goose, this one is out of a homebred female by Whatmore Chaos. Having been tapped out as pre-sale champion judge Rhys Francis, the hammer fell at 2000gns selling to Angus Brisbane for the Auchmantle flock, Castle Kennedy, Stranraer.

Next best at 1300gns was the second highest priced Blue Texel ram lamb, Beaconsview Jack The Lad from Chris Davies, Brecon, Powys. Homebred on both sides, this one is by Beaconsview Goldmine and carries Saltire breeding on both sides. This one was the pick of R Partridge, Ipswich, Suffolk.

From the same home came the top priced shearling ram at 1000gns, Beaconsview Harvey, this time by Beaconsview de Niro and out of a homebred dam by Saltire Blue Einstien. Having stood second in his class, this one went to G A and H M Francis, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire.

Carrying on his great run at the sale, Chris Davies also took the female and reserve overall championship with a ewe lamb that later went on to top female trade at 1300gns. Beaconsview Jet is a February-born lamb by Pollyannas Hunter, again out of a homebred daughter of the Saltire tup. This one caught the eye of S A Norman, Taunton, Somerset.

Two females then sold for 1000gns, the first being the first placed shearling ewe, Auchmantle Hocus Pocus from previous buyer Angus Brisbane. By Matt’s Game On out of a Nantyderri female by Whatmore Walnut. Taking her home was F J Baird, Tetbury, Glos.

At the same money was the reserve female champion, Caryl’s Blues Joules, a Trisant Godfather daughter out of a Hackney sired homebred daughter from Caryl Howells, Llangadog, Carmarthenshire. Taking this one home to Leicestershire was Cameron Cormack and Gaynor McDowell for the CJ’s flock.
