SALE REPORT

Securing the top price of 1,000gns at Melton Mowbray’s Winter Warmers Sale for The Blue Texel Sheep Society was a ewe lamb from Joshua Geary and his Littlewood Flock. Sired by Saltire Blue Firefighter and out of the dam Knockout Ellie, Littlewood Hettie entry took second prize in the pre-sale show. She was knocked down to Ron Darlington for his Great Blues Flock near Buxton.

Next best only a few lots earlier was Premier Glitz from Robert Mawer and Emma Benge, their first prize and reserve champion was sold for 750gns to Jamie Jessop to join his Tubsies Flock in Leicestershire. Glitz is a daughter of Saltire Blue Extreme and is out of the homebred ewe Premier Eve.

Robert Mawer and Emma Benge also saw the similarly bred ewe lamb Premier Heiress sell for 750gns, this ewe lamb was first in her class and took the overall champion ticket. Heiress who was also sired by Saltire Blue Extreme and was out of a Whatmore ewe was purchased by J Collin, from Teasdale.

Selling for 650gns was a shearling ewe entry from FJ Baird and Coles from their Silson Flock, the ewe Silson Gloria was a daughter Hunters Flying Scotsman and out of a homebred ewe. Gloria sold to M Peck, Norfolk.

 

 

Averages: MV – 4 Aged Ewes, £485.62; 16 Shearling Ewes, £527.62; 12 Ewe Lambs, £377.12.

Non-MV – 3 Aged Ewes, £217; 3 Shearling Ewes, £241.50.
